Israel Orienteering Championship is ready   Leave a comment

I've finished preparing the Israel Orienteering Championships, and all that's left to do is set out the controls next Thursday and hope the weather is good.
This is the third time that I've made the map for the second day of the championships, and of course prepared the courses. The previous times were in 2000 (Ramat Yochanan) and 2004 (Tal-El). On both occasions, I had to rush to meet the deadline, and finished preparing the courses less than two weeks before the event. This time, I managed to finish the map with nearly two months in hand, and checking and marking the courses was completed 3 weeks before the competition. Now I've translated the planner's notes into English (there are over 70 foreign orienteers expected), and my job as course planner is done.

Now, please, let's have next weekend without any rain…
