Here we go – MTB WOC 2009   Leave a comment

Tomorrow it starts: MTB WOC 2009, the most important orienteering event ever held in Israel. I'm still at home, but I can feel the euphoria in the air even through the internet, and I'm looking forward to arriving at the long qualification start tomorrow, after a long drive.
I'll be there on all the race days, as the (unofficial) action photographer of the competition. I'll be wandering through the forest with my trusty Canon (A650) around strategic controls, and doing my best to get good action photos of each and every competitor. I'm not a professional, but I think I can do quite well, and I've got lots of experience photographing foot orienteers in action, which is harder: they move almost as fast, but are less predictable. My goal: 1,000 pictures overall. All will be published on the internet as quickly as possible, and I'll link to them from here as well as the event website.
Meanwhile, I've been checking the weather forecast, and it looks like we're in for a scorcher towards the end of the week. In this case, I'm not glad that my prediction is coming true. It's a shame, because the last few days have been relatively mild.
