A new job   Leave a comment

I've been appointed as the technical director of our national orienteering teams (the job doesn't have a proper name yet, so this is just my interpretation of it). It's mostly voluntary, which means that I'm being paid something symbolic, and I think it will prove to be a big step forward for us – I was writing about such a position on this blog a few months ago.
The job description isn't finished yet, but basically I have to advise, coordinate, and assist with the national teams, for a period of three years. These are the Men's team, coached by Daniel Griff, Women's team, coached by myself, Juniors, coached by Oded Verbin, and Under-16's (we have a better word in Hebrew), coached by Shai Ram. All three are good friends of mine, and I'm sure that we'll agree on most issues without any problems.
There are two challenges here. One is to get a system working smoothly, so that all the team activities are coordinated and effective, without treading on the other coaches' toes along the way. The other challenge is to actually benefit from this: improve the results of our orienteers. And, of course, all of this is in my spare time. It's going to be fun!
