Eran Segal will be participating in his first JWOC at the age of 17 (well, nearer 18), but he is already one of the top orienteers in Israel at any age, if not the best. I wrote about him two years ago during EYOC 2008, and again after this year's Winter Cup, so there's not much to add. He is already experienced in international events, at the peak of his fitness, and ready to race.
Eran will be at EYOC 2010 in Spain first, and there he is expected to get a good result in the M17-18 category (after 10th place in M15-16 two years ago). He will join us at JWOC immediately afterwards, skipping the long distance race in order to recover and concentrate on the middle distance. Judging from past performances, Eran is perfectly capable of producing one of his best runs just when it's needed, but I really don't know how close to the top it can bring him. The competition at JWOC is at a very high level, and he'll be there and improving for the next two years as well, so this could be just the beginning. Good luck!
